Overview

We installed our 3m immersive dome at 70° North in Hammerfest, Norway, as part of the Danse Barents Festival. Positioned within the Arctic Circle, the dome provided an intimate venue for showcasing our Dance Dome films, inviting audiences to step inside and experience contemporary dance in a fully immersive environment.

The installation was set up at the Arktisk Kultursenter, where festival audiences were able to discover a curated programme of 360° dance works designed specifically for dome presentation. The enclosed space created a focused viewing environment, allowing visitors to engage closely with choreography, movement and spatial sound.

Alongside the cultural centre screenings, the 3m dome was also installed at the local market, bringing the experience into the heart of the community. This dual-location approach expanded reach beyond traditional festival audiences, attracting passers-by and encouraging spontaneous participation.

Despite the northern coastal setting, the compact 3m dome allowed for efficient installation and relocation between sites. The project successfully showcased the versatility of the Dance Dome films while demonstrating how immersive environments can bring contemporary dance to diverse audiences in unique locations.
