Overview

4Pi Productions’ immersive production Juniper is a collaboration with the band Slowly Rolling Camera. Originally commissioned by Ffotogallery to premiere at Diffusion 2019, Juniper explores the fusion of ambisonic sound and moving image within live performance.

The show features Slowly Rolling Camera performing their critically acclaimed third album Juniper in its entirety inside 4Pi’s CULTVR Dome, accompanied by immersive visuals created to respond to the music. Audiences are enveloped in expansive jazz grooves, trip-hop rhythms and cinematic soundscapes, while being transported through barren and bustling environments across the UK, Norway, Spain, India and Finland.

Following its successful premiere, Juniper returned for a celebrated performance in 2025, continuing to captivate audiences with its unique blend of live music and multi-sensory visual storytelling.

The album itself, masterminded by Edition Records label founder Dave Stapleton, producer Deri Roberts, and drummer Elliot Bennett, brings together ex-Cinematic Orchestra guitarist Stuart McCallum, bassist Aidan Thorne, and Belgian saxophonist Nicolas Kummert.

What People Say

"The 4Pi team put on an incredible show, treating us to a combination of cutting edge technology and traditional musical entertainment from a band of incredible musicians. The show (Juniper) worked on many levels and for a wide variety of audiences and interests. The combination of live music with 360 video projections within the dome created a fully immerse and thought-provoking experience. Our students left informed, inspired and eager to contribute to projects like this in the future."

Jay Auborn, DBS Productions

"4Pi/Slowly Rolling Camera’s new immersive work Juniper is both a world premiere and the first fulldome immersive event of this kind in Wales. Through experiencing the performances, I want audiences to engage their eyes, ears and senses to imagine a future when boundaries between artistic forms and disciplines dissolve, and the world can be experienced differently."

David Drake, Diffusion Festival

"A fantastic experience, completely different to anything I’ve ever seen before. Would definitely see something similar again!"
